During our recent caffeine adventure cleanse I discovered a new drink in a desperate effort to take my mind off my love of lattes: Alo Exposed Original Aloe Drink.  L is not yet sold on them and is concerned that this is becoming another addiction for me.  They are delicious and come in a variety of flavors.  I first discovered them at one of our favorite restaurants, Healthfare on Jasper Ave and 102 Street.  It is made with real aloe vera extract and full of vitamins, minerals and amino acids.  Aloe vera is known for easing the pain of sunburns, but also provides a wealth of nutritional benefits in juice form.  According to

  • “Aloe vera juice is said to be one of the finest body cleansers, cleaning morbid matter from the stomach, liver, kidneys, spleen, bladder, and is considered the finest, known colon cleanser. Studies have shown that it is healing and soothing in the relief of indigestion, stomach distress and ulcers. People claim relief from arthritis, bladder and kidney infections; leg cramps, constipation, and insomnia.  An excellent internal tonic for energy and well being Aloe juice may add greatly to the strength of the food fed, digestive tract, skin, and overall good health and happiness.”

This probably decreases its nutritional value, but the site has a list of aloe cocktail recipes.  I enjoy the Aloe Cosmo made from citrus vodka, Triple Sec, fresh lime juice, aloe juice and grenadine.

L and I celebrated Family Day with a matinee movie date.  We saw Just Go With It at the Empire City Centre 9 Cinemas.  While young Griffin Gluck‘s adorable portrayal of Aniston’s on-screen son Michael was great; we understand why Nicole Kidman does not seem to be advertising her role in this film.  Its a long way from her work in Rabbit Hole – we fear career suicide.  We were, however, blown away by how fabulous Jennifer Aniston looks in this film.  It will motivate me to get back to the gym tonight.  Reports indicate that she uses yoga, cardio and The Zone Diet to keep her 40-something body looking like that of an in-shape 20-something.  We will be investigating this further over the next few days.  What ever she’s doing is certainly working!  I wonder if aloe juice is part of her nutrition plan?

Happy Family Day!
