Blue is the color of dreams

I stayed in Toronto an extra day after my work was finished at Run Director Training to go shopping at Tiffany & Co.  Tiffany & Co. jewellery is available in Edmonton in Holt Renfrew; but nothing compares to a real Tiffany’s department store like the one in Toronto on Bloor Street West.  Its almost like the flag ship store on Fifth Avenue in New York – where the platinum items are on the first floor, gold and silver on the second.

I love watching the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s from 1961 with Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard.  I agree with Holly Golightly‘s philosophy that the mere thought of a trip to the store is enough to brighten any day:

  • “The blues are because you’re getting fat and maybe it’s been raining too long, you’re just sad that’s all. The mean reds are horrible. Suddenly you’re afraid and you don’t know what you’re afraid of. Do you ever get that feeling? Well, when I get it the only thing that does any good is to jump in a cab and go to Tiffany’s. Calms me down right away. The quietness and the proud look of it; nothing very bad could happen to you there. If I could find a real-life place that’d make me feel like Tiffany’s, then – then I’d buy some furniture and give the cat a name!”

I bought the Return to Tiffany heart tag charm and chain!  It is my first Tiffany’s purchase and I have to admit I got a pretty big thrill when they wrapped it in the little blue box and tied it with the white bow.

Good news!  I heard that an actual Tiffany’s store is opening in Calgary in Chinook Centre in May!  I see many shopping weekends in Calgary for L and I.
