L went to Jasper for the weekend to attend a friend’s wedding.  I spent the weekend being very jealous of her weekend away; but enjoying some fabulous Edmonton activities and events. Most exciting for me: Ryan Smyth returning to the Oilers.

On Friday, I was thrilled to be involved with the grand opening of the newest Feature Display at the Muttart Conservatory, ‘Pretty In Pink… Who Are You Thinking Of?’

Bob Dixon, one of the growers at the Muttart Conservatory, was inspired to create the show after his sister lost her battle with breast cancer.  “I’m surrounded by beauty at the Muttart and I wanted to dedicate that beauty to my sister,” said Dixon. “This display is very personal for me, but I hope it touches everyone who visits the Muttart this summer.”

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation is partnering with the Muttart Conservatory to launch Paint Canada Pink Week, which marks the kick-off to the fundraising campaign for the 2011 Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure in Edmonton.

The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure will be held on Sunday, October 2, 2011 at Sir Winston Churchill Square. Every Run for the Cure participant in Edmonton will receive a free admission to the Muttart Conservatory to view the Feature Pyramid display on October 2nd.  Follow the organizing committee on Facebook for the latest news.

Carrie Doll from CTV News is Honorary Chair of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation CIBC Run for the Cure in Edmonton. She is joined by Tanya Yaceyko and Melanie Lacher, Co-Volunteer Run Directors.

It is a beautiful display.  Check it out!  L & I are heading to The Works Festival tomorrow after work to celebrate the power of right brain thinking.

Enjoy your sunny Sunday afternoons everyone!
