Little shining star

This weekend a good friend of mine lost her nephew at the tender age of 17 months.  The heartache they are feeling is something few can understand, but those who do are forever changed.  The family has asked that donations be made in his name to the Stollery Children’s Hospital.  Susan and I have had the pleasure of volunteering at a number of Stollery events and our hearts are always warmed by the generosity of donors.  Donations are working to develop new treatments, fund ground breaking children’s health research, and helped construct a new children’s emergency ward.

Here are some amazing facts about the Stollery:

  • Home to the only specialized pediatric emergency in Central and Northern Alberta, treating more than 150,000 patient visits each year.
  • Canada’s largest children’s heart transplant center and a national leader in organ transplantation.
  • Western Canada referral centre for pediatric heart surgery
  • Home to Women and Children’s Health Research Institute
  • Home to the Western Canadian Children’s Heart Network (WCCHN), a program that coordinates the delivery of pediatric cardiac services to residents of British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

If you are able, please donate online here to help the ongoing work of the Stollery to ensure that fewer families have to experience this tremendous pain.   If you wish to donate in Nate’s name, please indicate it is a tribute gift for Nathaniel Brian Pillipow.  Our hearts go out to the Pillipow Moon family.

The light of a distant star continues to reach the Earth long after the star itself is gone.

This is a wonderful site you have created in memory of Nathaniel. I have just donated online through your link. I never did have the honour of meeting little Nate, but I know his daddy and know that he was a special a little boy and will be greatly missed. God Bless You. Cheryl-Ann Orr
